For the 26th season, OKM and its beloved world-class orchestra, Amici New York, continues to capture the hearts of audiences drawn from throughout the nation. Together they have brought some of the best and brightest musicians in the U.S. to the heartland of America.

It all started in 1983 with the orchestra’s appearance as part of Bartlesville’s Community Concert series. It was a serendipitous evening...the concert was a great success and Arts Administrator Nan Buhlinger approached the orchestra and its conductor, Ransom Wilson, with the idea of starting an annual music festival here. It took two years to bring it all together, but in June, 1985 the OK MOZART International Festival presented a highly successful premiere season.

Amici New York boasts many of the finest musicians in New York today – soloists in their own right and players in such prestigious ensembles as the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, Metropolitan Opera, American Symphony Orchestra, New York Pops, New Jersey Symphony and American Ballet Theatre.

The musicians of Amici New York have toured Asia, Europe and the United States, and have appeared in series at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, City Center and the Metropolitan Museum. These talented musicians continue to return year after year as the resident orchestra for the OK MOZART Festival. In the process they have established deep roots within the Bartlesville community and close bonds with its residents.

While Bartlesville, a town of 35,000, may seem an unlikely place to experience classical music, Amici New York has experienced overwhelming acceptance here. Thus, even after 26 years, the orchestra continues to enrich lives and cultivate an ever-growing appreciation of a wide range of orchestral music.
