OK Mozart is dedicated to the arts for our public schools, private schools and homeschooled students. OK Mozart arranges group Masterclasses with professional artists in coordination with local schools. In addition, OK Mozart is launching an initiative to bring children ages 4-8 to an educational experience interacting with musicians and instruments. Our goal, like the Masterclass offerings, is to get youth out of the audience and in direct contact with musicians.
Masterclass offerings by professional artists is for ages 12-18. Our Masterclass offerings allow students to meet professional musicians, learning technique and craft in a traditional apprenticeship manner, at no cost to the students. The Little Mozart Initiative, for ages 4 to 11, is new for 2018, and we hope to bring primary aged children out of the classroom and onstage at the Bartlesville Community Center to interact with musicians during rehearsals in addition to receiving tactile learning through exposure to various orchestral instruments donated and funded by OK Mozart.
Also new to 2018 is our scholarship program. We are offering two $1,000 merit based scholarships to local students. This opportunity allows OK Mozart to give back to the community that has supported us for 33 years. We are helping shape the future of the music and arts programs in our community by supporting local students aspiring to careers in music and the arts. These two merit based awards, the Thomasane Chapple Memorial Scholarship Fund for rising stars ages 4-18 will enhance their access to music instruction outside the classroom, and the Mihm Mozart Scholarship Fund for high school seniors will support their goals of higher education in music.
