Burchfield Brothers share inspirational music during OKM festival

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — OK Mozart Music Festival presents the unique sound and style of the Burchfield Brothers in concert at 7:30 p.m. June 13 at First Baptist Church, 405 S. Cherokee, in Bartlesville.

Their concerts are a combination of music, storytelling and comedy as each plays off the other in a way that’s entertaining and captivating. An evening with The Burchfields can be described as Reaching the Ages. Prime timers love the music they recognize, while young people are inspired by the arrangements and intrigued with the instrumentation.

From the Smokey Mountains to the Chicago area, Jon and Ben Burchfield were exposed to varying music styles that shaped their signature sound. Influenced by Appalachian, classical, jazz, Renaissance and gospel music, the two artists bring a delightful diversity to every performance.

“It all started with our musical parents while growing up in the Smoky Mountains of east Tennessee. We lived in a small community called Happy Valley, not far from Cades Cove. Many of the folks would bring their instruments to our home and play well into the evening. That was the beginning of our musical influence,” said Jon Burchfield.

The Dove-nominated Burchfields combine classical guitar and midi-marimba to bring a fresh, new sound to their arrangements. Performing for more than 20 years, their inspiring instrumentals range from classical and hymns to original compositions.

The brothers, who call Nashville home, have an impressive list of CDs, including holiday recordings, love songs of the ‘30s and ‘40s, light jazz, classical recordings, and their all-time favorites collected in “Times and Seasons: The Best of the Burchfield Brothers.”

Tickets are available for $15 at bartlesvillecommunitycenter.com or 918-336-2787.
